Bangkok, Thailand – 15 June 2026 — The 58th Meeting of the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Coordinating Committee (ACPECC) convened in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together engineering regulatory authorities and representatives from ASEAN Member States to strengthen cooperation, enhance professional mobility, and advance mutual recognition of engineering qualifications across the region.
Chaired by Engr. Praxedes Bernardo of the Philippines, the meeting reviewed key initiatives under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Engineering Services, including updates on foreign engineer registration processes and the continued development of mechanisms supporting cross-border engineering practice.
A significant milestone was achieved with the approval of 412 ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) applications, bringing the total number of approved ACPEs to 10,137, with 10,086 active professionals across ASEAN Member States.
The meeting also highlighted progress in promoting engineer mobility through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Council of Engineers Thailand on an Internship and Exchange Programme. The initiative is expected to support knowledge exchange, capacity building, and greater professional collaboration among ASEAN engineers.
In addition, ACPECC endorsed continued development of regional engineering initiatives, including the ASEAN Engineering Project Excellence Award, capacity-building programmes, and an information exchange platform for engineering standards and practices. These efforts aim to facilitate greater integration and collaboration among engineering professionals throughout ASEAN.
