Engineers’ representatives from all ten ASEAN Monitoring Committees convened virtually and in-person at the 55th ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Coordinating Committee (ACPECC) meeting in Vientiane, Lao PDR on June 16, 2025.
Key Outcomes:
• Mutual Recognition Updates: Member states reaffirmed their commitment to recognizing foreign engineers under the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), with a standardized registration and employment process. Upcoming meetings will finalize detailed registration flowcharts for foreign engineer applicants.
• Certification Numbers: The ACPE registry continues growing, tracking nearly 8,900 certified engineers. Malaysia and the Philippines reported the most new registrations, with Indonesia actively participating in online processes.
• Digital Certificates: Efforts accelerated toward launching electronic certificates (e-Certificates) for ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers, simplifying cross-border verification and recognition.
• Information Exchange Platform: ACPECC launched a regional online hub—https://acpecc.org/information-exchange—to foster collaboration and share professional development opportunities. Member states are invited to contribute data.
• Technical Mobility: The Technical Working Group on Mobility of ASEAN Engineers reported on building regional common practices and supporting easy movement for engineers across ASEAN countries.
• Continued Progress: Brunei and Viet Nam updated engineering discipline matrices, and new collaborations for capacity building are in negotiation with AFEO.
