The ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Engineering Services is a
significant agreement signed by the Ministers of Trade from 10 ASEAN Member States in Kuala
Lumpur on December 9, 2005. This arrangement aims to enhance the mobility and recognition of
engineering professionals across the region by establishing a standardized framework for the
recognition of engineering qualifications and certifications.
Under this
arrangement, the Indonesia Monitoring Committee on Engineering Services (IMC) plays a
crucial role in developing, processing, and managing the ASEAN Chartered Professional
Engineer Register (ACPER). The main objective of the IMC is to ensure that Indonesian
engineers are recognized and respected across ASEAN countries, thereby facilitating their
professional mobility and contributing to the region's economic growth and
development.
For Indonesian engineers, the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement
on Engineering Services offers numerous benefits, including increase recognition and
credibility of their qualifications and certifications, enhance career opportunities, and
improve professional mobility within the ASEAN region. This arrangement also promotes the
sharing of knowledge, expertise, and best practices among engineers from different ASEAN
countries, ultimately enhancing the quality and competitiveness of engineering services in
the region.
Note: Engineering Services refer to the activities covered under the
Central Product Classification, CPC, Code 8672 of the Provisional CPC of the United Nation
